David E. Haynes, MD

Baylor University Athletics

A native of Marshall, Texas, Dr. Haynes received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University in 1994. After graduation from Baylor he received his medical degree with honors from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Haynes continued his training at the University of Tennessee/Campbell Clinic orthopaedic surgery residency program. The Campbell Clinic staff, in cooperation with the Campbell Foundation, author the internationally recognized orthopaedic text, Campbell’s Operative Orthopaedics.

Dr. Haynes continued his sub specialty training in sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. While in Cleveland his sports medicine experience included team physician duties for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers and John Carroll University.

Since returning to Waco in 2005, Dr. Haynes has participated in multiple professional leadership roles. He is the past president of the Texas Orthopaedic Association and the Texas Society of Sports Medicine. He has served as Chief of staff and chairman of the department of surgery at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Hillcrest.

Dr. Haynes is passionate about caring for athletes and has been a team physician for Baylor University for over 15 years. He is the former Chief Medical Officer and the current Director of Orthopaedic Surgery for Baylor University Athletics.
